A city that was never a suburb.

Salaberry-de-Valleyfield was built around its industry, not around the car. It shows in its neighbourhoods: tight streets, houses close together, plenty of late-19th and early-20th century buildings, and stacked flats where a suburb would have put bungalows.

A house like that has almost always been renovated before we get there, sometimes three times. So the work starts with an inventory: what was redone, what was covered over, and what is still sound. It takes longer at the start and costs far less in the middle — because the bad surprise does not turn up with the wall already open.

What people in Valleyfield ask us.

We want to redo the bathroom in the upstairs flat. Is that more complicated?

A second storey mainly changes plumbing and sound insulation, not whether it can be done. In Valleyfield’s older houses we first check how the waste stack was run and what the floor can carry. That is what decides the rest.

What happens at a first meeting?

We come out, we look at what you have, and we listen to what you want to do. Nothing gets priced over the phone on a renovation: what is hidden behind the walls changes the picture too often.

Do you manage the subtrades?

Yes. The electrician, the plumber and the other trades go through us, in the order the job needs them. You deal with one person from beginning to end.

Do you build new?

Yes, as much as we renovate. Custom building and home additions are two of our three main kinds of project, the third being major renovation.

We also work here.
